Overview
Magda, Brazen Outlaw is one of the most focused Commander engines ever printed. Her ability is deceptively simple: whenever a Dwarf you control becomes tapped, create a Treasure token. Sacrifice five Treasures: search your library for an artifact or Dragon permanent card and put it onto the battlefield. Two lines of text that, in the right deck, generate an unstoppable snowball from as early as turn two.
This build leans into that engine hard. The creature suite is almost entirely Dwarves, ensuring every combat step and every activated ability floods the board with Treasures. Non-Dwarf utility pieces like Academy Manufactor and Reckless Fireweaver slot into the strategy through Maskwood Nexus, which makes every creature on the battlefield a Dwarf. The result is a deck that threatens to win from any position where Magda survives a full turn.
Victory comes from multiple angles. Hellkite Tyrant steals opponents' entire artifact collections and wins automatically if you control twenty or more artifacts at your upkeep. Reckless Fireweaver pings each opponent every time a Treasure enters, turning a Treasure flood into a clock without needing to attack. And the tutor ability itself means the deck always has access to the right answer or the right threat at exactly the right moment.

Playing the Deck
The early game is about establishing Magda and getting creatures onto the battlefield quickly. Even a single 1-mana Dwarf like Dwarven Grunt or Universal Automaton generates a Treasure on each attack, putting you ahead on mana within two turns. Equipment like Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are critical here. Magda is the deck's entire engine. A single removal spell before you Treasure-tutor your first artifact puts you severely behind, so protecting her from turn one is the priority.
The mid game begins the moment you sacrifice five Treasures for the first time. The correct first tutor depends on the board state, but Academy Manufactor is usually the answer. From that point on, every tapped Dwarf produces a Treasure, a Food, and a Clue simultaneously. The second tutor is almost always Maskwood Nexus, which converts your entire creature base into Dwarf Treasure producers. Dwarven Recruiter stacks your library with Dwarves at this stage, ensuring your draws remain consistent throughout the mid game.
The late game presents multiple paths to victory. If the board is open, Hellkite Tyrant attacks into an artifact-heavy opponent, strips their mana base and equipment, and often closes within two upkeep triggers once you hit twenty artifacts. If combat is difficult, Reckless Fireweaver turns every Treasure entering the battlefield into a ping to each opponent, draining the table without needing to connect. Professional Face-Breaker converts Treasure sacrifice into card advantage, keeping your hand full as the game extends. Stax pieces like Blood Moon, Damping Sphere, and Grafdigger's Cage buy you the time to assemble the engine against faster combo decks.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck has genuine redundancy across its win conditions. Hellkite Tyrant, Reckless Fireweaver, and direct combat with a Dragon-heavy board all close games independently. Magda's tutor ability means the deck always has access to the right answer, whether that is a protective piece, a stax card, or a finisher. The Treasure generation scales aggressively; even two Dwarves online makes the five-Treasure threshold feel trivial once Academy Manufactor is in play.
Weaknesses: Mono-red has limited answers to enchantments and limited card draw beyond Professional Face-Breaker, War Room, and Seize the Spoils. Magda herself is the entire engine, so a heavy commander tax from repeated removal cripples the deck's mana investment significantly. Artifact sweepers like Vandalblast at instant speed can obliterate a full Treasure pile before you sacrifice them. Blood Moon is also a double-edged card in a land base that runs several utility lands; if it comes down before you have your lands set up, it can lock you out of coloured mana briefly.
