Marvel's History of Heroes Countdown Kit: Is This Secret Lair Worth $199.99?

22 October 202630 cards$199.99Prices in USD
On 16 October 2026, Wizards of the Coast announced the Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes: 30 individually packaged cards, each representing an era or moment from the history of the Marvel Universe, with illustrations from over 30 artists. It costs $199.99 and launches on 2 November 2026, only on MagicSecretLair.com.
Every card randomly appears as non-foil, foil or, in Wizards' words, "when the stars and spells align", surge foil, and no odds have been published. This page does the card-value sum for you. For each card we take the cheapest existing printing, add the prices up and compare the total with the kit price, then show what the same cards would cost if they all came foil.
Worth it? The short answer
Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes
Worth it on card value
Singles value
$241.45
Kit price
$199.99
All-foil value
$435.23
Every card at its cheapest regular printing: $241.45 against the $199.99 price (+$41.46, 1.21x). If every card came foil: the same cards in their cheapest foil printings come to $435.23 (+$235.24, 2.18x).
Each card is randomly regular, foil or surge foil and Wizards has not published the odds, so the real mix is unknown. The all-foil figure shows the upside, not a prediction.

Scryfall carries TCGplayer's market price for every printing of a card. We use the non-foil market price, which reflects recent sales rather than the single cheapest listing.
What counts as the lowest printing
We check every paper printing of the card and keep the cheapest non-foil price.
The new Secret Lair printing is left out of that figure. It cannot be bought yet and has no price, so it is shown separately on each card and will get a price once it is on sale.
If a card had no non-foil price anywhere, we would use its cheapest foil and mark it as foil only.
Doctor Strange, Master of Magic and Beta Ray Bill are new uncommons from Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, so no existing printing of either has a price. They are left out of the totals, which makes the totals a floor.
What this does not tell you
It is the cost of the same cards in their cheapest existing printings, not a forecast of what the Secret Lair copies will sell for. Special printings can trade above or below standard ones.
Marketplace fees, shipping and tax are not included.
Prices move daily, so check the date above before you decide.
The finish of each card is random and the odds are not published, so we show two figures: every card at its cheapest regular printing, and every card at its cheapest foil printing. Neither is a prediction of what you will open.
Surge foil copies, and the Secret Lair versions of these cards, can sell for more or less than the cheapest printings we use.
The product name, card list, price and launch date come from Wizards of the Coast's announcement. Card data and images belong to Wizards of the Coast.
