Zhulodok, Void Gorger costs {5}{C} and is a 7/4. Colorless spells you cast from your hand with mana value 7 or greater have "Cascade, cascade." Each huge Eldrazi you cast from your hand is two free spells, and the deck is built from colorless cards, so most of them qualify.
The precon already has the huge Eldrazi, including Kozilek, the Great Distortion, Darksteel Monolith, Flayer of Loyalties and It That Betrays. Each swap below pairs a cut with an add, and every card is scored with the same numbers the Oracle uses to build decks: synergy and inclusion from the Zhulodok decks, plus lift, which shows how much more often a card turns up in Zhulodok decks than in decks that could play it.

What is holding the deck back
Not enough colorless engines
It That Heralds the End, Glaring Fleshraker, Echoes of Eternity and Sanctum of Ugin cheapen, copy and fetch colorless spells with mana value 7 or more. They are among the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.
Cheap X creatures that do not cascade
Endless One, Hangarback Walker, Stonecoil Serpent and Omarthis cost a variable amount and only cascade if you pay an X of 7 or more. None of them is a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Utility cards that do little
Myriad Construct, Scaretiller, Suspicious Bookcase, Fireshrieker and Investigator's Journal do nothing for the plan, and none of them is played in more than about one Zhulodok deck in twelve.
The 13 swaps

Endless One is an X creature with no cost except X. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
It That Heralds the End is a 2/2 for {1}{C}. Colorless spells you cast with mana value 7 or greater cost {1} less, and your other colorless creatures get +1/+1. A two-drop that discounts the cascade spells and grows the team. It is one of the top-scoring cards the precon leaves out.

Hangarback Walker is an X creature that makes Thopters when it dies. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Glaring Fleshraker is a 2/2 for {2}{C}. Whenever you cast a colorless spell it makes a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn, and whenever another colorless creature enters it deals 1 damage to each opponent. Every cascaded spell is a Spawn and a ping.

Myriad Construct is a four-mana 4/4 Construct that gets counters for nonbasic lands. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Echoes of Eternity costs {3}{C}{C}{C}. Whenever you cast a colorless spell you copy it, and triggers of colorless spells and permanents happen an additional time. Cascade is a triggered ability, so Zhulodok's double cascade triggers an additional time too.

Omarthis, Ghostfire Initiate is an X creature that grows with counters on other colorless creatures. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Breaker of Creation is an 8/4 for {6}{C}{C} with hexproof from each color and annihilator 2. When you cast it you gain 1 life for each colorless permanent you control. A mana value 8 colorless creature that cascades twice and cannot be targeted by any colored spell.

Scaretiller is a four-mana 1/4 that returns lands when it taps. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Ulamog's Crusher is an 8/8 for {8} with annihilator 2 that attacks each combat. A mana value 8 colorless creature, so it cascades twice, and it is among the cheapest in the deck's top end.

Stonecoil Serpent is an X creature with reach, trample and protection from multicolored. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Desolation Twin is a 10/10 for {10}. When you cast it, you create a 10/10 colorless Eldrazi token. A mana value 10 colorless spell that cascades twice and makes two 10/10s.

Suspicious Bookcase is a two-mana 0/4 defender that makes a creature unblockable for {3}. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Sanctum of Ugin is a land that taps for {C}. Whenever you cast a colorless spell with mana value 7 or greater, you may sacrifice it to search your library for a colorless creature card. A land that fetches the next huge Eldrazi, and it takes no spell slot.

Fireshrieker is a three-mana Equipment that gives double strike. It is played in about one Zhulodok deck in twelve.
Ultima, Origin of Oblivion is a 4/4 flier for {5}. Whenever it attacks you put a blight counter on a land that turns it into a colorless mana land, and whenever you tap a land for {C} you add an additional {C}. Every colorless land makes more colorless mana.

Steel Hellkite is a six-mana 5/5 flying Dragon. It is played in about one Zhulodok deck in six, and with mana value 6 it does not cascade.
Pathrazer of Ulamog is a 9/9 for {11} with annihilator 3 that cannot be blocked except by three or more creatures. A mana value 11 colorless creature that cascades twice.

Investigator's Journal is a two-mana Clue-like artifact that draws cards for {2}. It is played in about one Zhulodok deck in eight.
Devourer of Destiny is a 6/6 for {5}{C}{C}. When you cast it you exile target permanent that is one or more colors, and from your opening hand it digs through the top four cards at your first upkeep. A mana value 7 colorless creature that removes a coloured permanent and cascades twice.

Duplicant is a six-mana artifact creature that exiles a nontoken creature. It is not a card Zhulodok, and with mana value 6 it does not cascade decks usually play.
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is a 10/10 indestructible legendary Eldrazi for {10}. When you cast it you exile two target permanents, and when it attacks the defending player exiles the top twenty cards of their library. A mana value 10 colorless creature that cascades twice. It is the highest-scoring card the precon leaves out.

Phyrexian Triniform is a nine-mana 9/9 that leaves three 3/3 Golems when it dies. It is not a card Zhulodok decks usually play.
Conduit of Ruin is a 5/5 for {6}. When you cast it you may search your library for a colorless creature with mana value 7 or greater and put it on top, and your first creature spell each turn costs {2} less. It finds the next cascade spell.

Ancient Stone Idol is a ten-mana 12/12 flash creature that costs less for each attacker. It is played in about one Zhulodok deck in six.
Emrakul, the World Anew is a 12/12 for {12} with flying and protection from spells and from permanents cast this turn. When you cast it you gain control of all creatures target player controls. A mana value 12 creature that cascades twice and steals a board.

What to keep
These cards are doing the deck's heavy lifting. Do not cut them.
- Kozilek, the Great Distortion$4.77
Played in 92% of Zhulodok decks. A 12/12 with menace that refills your hand when you cast it, and counters a spell by discarding a card of the same mana value. - Darksteel Monolith$25.77
Once each turn, you may pay {0} for a colorless spell you cast from your hand. - Flayer of Loyalties$13.55
Steals a creature for the turn and gives it 10/10, trample, annihilator 2 and haste. - It That Betrays$11.12
An 11/11 with annihilator 2 that puts permanents your opponents sacrifice onto your battlefield. - Not of This World$6.31
Counters a spell or ability that targets a permanent you control, and is free to protect a creature with power 7 or more.
If you want to spend more
These are strong but sit outside a budget upgrade. Prices are the cheapest paper printing.
- Basalt Monolith$3.88
Taps for {C}{C}{C} and can untap for {3}, a lot of colorless mana. - Kozilek's Command$6.95
A flexible instant that makes Spawn, draws, exiles a creature or clears graveyards.
Eldrazi Unbound already has the huge Eldrazi. The upgrade is cheap colorless engines and more spells with mana value 7 or more for Zhulodok to cascade, in place of X creatures and utility cards that do nothing for the plan. These thirteen swaps cost about $46 in total.

How the numbers work
Inclusion is the share of Zhulodok, Void Gorger decks (21,645 of them when this was written, 2026-10-27) that play the card. Synergy is how much more often they play it than other decks in the same colours. Oracle score is synergy × 0.6 plus inclusion × 0.4, the same blend The Oracle uses to rank cards for a deck. Lift compares how often the card appears in these decks with how often it could, capped at 8× here; it is shown for context and does not change the score.
Two cautions. Players who run the precon unmodified count as Zhulodok decks, which flatters every card the precon contains. Lift is low for most of these cards because they are played in nearly every colorless deck, so use synergy and inclusion to compare cards, not lift. A card the commander's decks do not usually play counts as 0 in the average score. Prices are the cheapest non-foil paper printing on TCGplayer (via Scryfall), in USD, and move daily.
