Overview
This deck is an Angel tribal deck that gains life to make more Angels. Bruna, the Fading Light has flying and vigilance, and when you cast it you may return target Angel or Human creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. It also melds with Gisela, the Broken Blade, and the deck includes both halves.
The 99 cards are 26 creatures, 1 planeswalker, 20 artifacts, 5 enchantments, 3 instants, 5 sorceries and 39 lands. Most of the creatures are Angels, such as Archangel of Thune, Angel of Destiny, Sephara, Sky's Blade, Emeria Shepherd and Angel of Serenity. Token makers such as Entreat the Angels, Court of Grace, Angelic Accord and The Book of Exalted Deeds create more Angels, and Cosmos Elixir and Well of Lost Dreams turn lifegain into cards.
Key Cards
Playing the Deck
The early game is about mana and cheap Angels. Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Marble Diamond, Mind Stone and Pearl Medallion ramp you, Giada, Font of Hope, Angel of Vitality, Righteous Valkyrie and Bishop of Wings come down early, and Starnheim Aspirant makes Angel spells cost {2} less. Urza's Incubator can do the same for the chosen creature type.
The middle of the game is about lifegain and tokens. Archangel of Thune, Nykthos Paragon and Valkyrie Harbinger turn life into a bigger board, Dawn of Hope and Well of Lost Dreams turn it into cards, Court of Grace and Griffin Aerie make flyers, and Ajani, Strength of the Pride gains life and makes Cat Soldiers. Archangel of Tithes taxes attackers.
The late game is about the big finish. Entreat the Angels makes a pile of 4/4 flyers, Sephara, Sky's Blade can come down for {W} by tapping four flyers and gives your other flyers indestructible, and Angel of Serenity removes up to three other creatures. Gisela, the Broken Blade and Bruna, the Fading Light meld together at your end step, and Austere Command and Cleansing Nova reset the board.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck has a lot of flyers, plenty of ways to gain life, and many creatures that grow the whole team. It also has cheap removal and protection, including Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Invoke the Divine, Dismantling Wave, Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves.
Weaknesses: The deck is mono-white with only three instants, so it has little interaction on an opponent's turn, and its payoffs rely on gaining life. Many of the best Angels cost five or more, and a sweeper or a lot of spot removal slows the deck down.
