Overview

Calling All Angels channels the classic mono-white angel fantasy into a coherent tribal engine. Giada is the centrepiece: she generates coloured mana equal to the number of Angels you control, allowing you to chain angel after angel in a single turn in the late game. She also enters each new angel with an additional +1/+1 counter, meaning every creature you deploy grows the rest. The deck rewards playing lots of medium-cost angels rather than a single expensive finisher.

The payoff layer is wide. Righteous Valkyrie pushes all your creatures to massive sizes once your life total climbs high enough, which lifelink-enabled Angels like Lyra Dawnbringer and Inspiring Overseer accelerate quickly. Bishop of Wings creates spiralling token generation whenever angels enter or die, adding bodies that protect your investment. The whole package rewards patient setup and punishes tables that don't answer your threats early.

Key Cards

Righteous Valkyrie
Life Gain Payoff · Anthem
Once your life total reaches 27 or more above your starting total, all your creatures get +2/+2. In an Angel deck with lifelink spread across multiple creatures, reaching this threshold happens faster than opponents expect, and the resulting anthem makes combat mathematics impossible for anyone to navigate.
Bishop of Wings
Tribal Engine · Resilience
Gains 4 life whenever an Angel enters under your control, and creates a 1/1 Spirit token whenever an Angel you control dies. Both abilities compound with Giada: life gain feeds Righteous Valkyrie, and Spirit tokens ensure the board never empties after a wrath. The Bishop rewards you for both playing and losing Angels.
Lyra Dawnbringer
Combat Finisher · Lifelink Lord
A 5/5 with flying, vigilance, and lifelink that grants all other Angels +1/+1 and lifelink. Even in a board-stalled game, Lyra turns every Angel into a life-swinging threat. The combination of toughness, lifelink, and the lord effect makes her one of the most impactful individual cards in the deck.
Sephara, Sky's Blade
Alternative Cost Finisher
Can be cast by tapping four untapped flying creatures you control instead of paying her 7-mana cost. In a deck that routinely runs four or more flyers by turn five, Sephara becomes effectively free, arriving as a 7/7 with lifelink and flying while granting all your other flyers indestructibility. She closes games quickly once the flock is assembled.

Playing the Deck

Open each game by establishing mana acceleration. Marble Diamond and Mind Stone smooth the early turns, and Giada herself generates mana the moment you have two or more Angels in play. Prioritise resolving a low-cost Angel on turn two or three — Serra Avenger, Segovian Angel, or Speaker of the Heavens establish the tribal count that makes Giada's mana generation significant.

The mid game revolves around keeping threats diverse enough that opponents cannot isolate a single removal target. Vanquisher's Banner and Tome of Legends provide card advantage that keeps the hand full as you deploy Angels. Bishop of Wings is the highest-priority protection piece: its life gain feeds Righteous Valkyrie's threshold, and its Spirit-on-death trigger means the board recovers automatically after sweepers. Hold interaction like Swords to Plowshares and Fateful Absence for the most threatening opposing permanents.

The late game plan is simple combat victory. Lyra Dawnbringer's lifelink lord effect turns every attacker into a life swing, making racing impossible. Sephara arrives for free once the board is established. Sunblast Angel as a combat trick wipes tapped blockers and protects your attack step. Giada's mana acceleration means you can often play two or three Angels in a single turn in the late game, which combined with an active Righteous Valkyrie creates a board state few opponents can navigate.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths: The deck snowballs naturally through the tribal synergies without relying on any single card. Giada's mana generation means the deck plays ahead on mana in the mid-game, and the combination of lifelink, vigilance, and flying makes combat universally advantageous. Bishop of Wings provides automatic resilience against sweepers.

Weaknesses: Mono-white has limited card draw, and the deck can run out of gas if an opponent repeatedly removes the board before the engine stabilises. The strategy also has minimal interaction on the stack: Exorcise and Invoke the Divine handle specific permanent types, but the deck cannot counter spells or answer every threat category. Opponents with flyer-heavy strategies can also contest the air before the angel army reaches critical mass.

Verdict
Calling All Angels is an ideal entry-level Commander precon for anyone who wants to experience tribal gameplay at its most focused. The angel synergies reinforce each other cleanly, Giada provides a compelling build-around that rewards packing the deck with tribal members, and the life gain subtheme makes games feel dramatically different depending on whether Bishop of Wings and Righteous Valkyrie resolve. It is a strong, coherent foundation that rewards both new players learning tribal mechanics and veterans looking for a Giada base to upgrade toward more powerful angel packages.
