Overview

Devour for Power is a graveyard deck led by a commander that borrows creatures from every graveyard. The Mimeoplasm is a 0/0, and as it enters you may exile two creature cards from graveyards. If you do, it enters as a copy of one of those cards, with additional +1/+1 counters equal to the power of the other card. The best two creatures in any graveyard make a huge, custom creature.

The 99 cards are 32 creatures, 6 artifacts, 5 enchantments, 4 instants, 12 sorceries and 40 lands. Cards such as Buried Alive, Dreamborn Muse, Memory Erosion, Riddlekeeper and Shared Trauma fill the graveyards, and reanimation cards such as Living Death, Rise from the Grave, Gravedigger, Desecrator Hag and Nezumi Graverobber // Nighteyes the Desecrator bring creatures back. Graveyard payoffs include Lhurgoyf, Mortivore, Avatar of Woe, Svogthos, the Restless Tomb and Vulturous Zombie.

Key Cards

◈
Living Death
Mass Reanimation · Sorcery
A sorcery for {3}{B}{B}. Each player exiles all creature cards from their graveyard, sacrifices all creatures they control, then puts the exiled cards onto the battlefield. If you have buried a lot of big creatures, it gives you the best board.
◈
Szadek, Lord of Secrets
Mill · Flying
A 5/5 for {3}{U}{U}{B}{B}. It has flying, and if it would deal combat damage to a player it instead puts that many +1/+1 counters on it and that player mills that many cards. It grows into a huge flyer and fills graveyards for The Mimeoplasm.
◈
Wrexial, the Risen Deep
Theft · Evasion
A 5/8 for {3}{U}{U}{B}. It has islandwalk and swampwalk, and whenever it deals combat damage to a player you may cast an instant or sorcery card from that player's graveyard for free. It is a 5/8 that steals their best spells.
◈
Avatar of Woe
Removal · Cost Reducer
A 6/5 for {6}{B}{B}. It costs {6} less if there are ten or more creature cards in all graveyards, and for a tap it destroys target creature. With enough creatures in the graveyards it costs only {B}{B}, and then it is a repeatable removal spell.

Playing the Deck

The early game is about mana and filling the graveyard. Sol Ring, Dimir Signet, Golgari Signet, Simic Signet, Cultivate and Solemn Simulacrum ramp you, and Buried Alive, Dreamborn Muse and Riddlekeeper fill the graveyard. Sign in Blood and Mulldrifter draw cards.

The middle of the game is about reanimating and growing. The Mimeoplasm copies the best creature in the graveyards, Gravedigger, Desecrator Hag and Eternal Witness return creatures, Lhurgoyf, Mortivore and Skullbriar, the Walking Grave grow quickly, and Fleshbag Marauder and Grave Pact remove creatures.

The late game is about huge threats. Artisan of Kozilek, Vorosh, the Hunter, Szadek, Lord of Secrets and Patron of the Nezumi win games, Living Death and Rise from the Grave bring back the best creatures, and Oblivion Stone resets the board. Damia, Sage of Stone refills your hand each turn.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths: The deck has a huge graveyard engine and many ways to reuse it, so it recovers from removal and sweepers, and it has plenty of removal. It also has solid interaction, including Dark Hatchling, Syphon Flesh, Spell Crumple, Acidic Slime, Relic Crush and Tribute to the Wild.

Weaknesses: Graveyard hate such as an exile effect can undo the whole plan, and many of the deck's best cards depend on creatures having already died. Several symmetrical effects, such as Windfall, Shared Trauma and Minds Aglow, help opponents too.

Verdict
Devour for Power is a clever graveyard deck with a flexible commander that is unlike any other. It is a good choice for players who like building a pile of dead creatures and picking the best one to come back.
