Overview

Nature's Vengeance is a landfall deck led by a planeswalker. Lord Windgrace can be your commander, and it enters with five loyalty. Its +2 discards a card and draws a card, with an extra card if you discarded a land, its -3 returns up to two target land cards from your graveyard to the battlefield, and its -11 destroys up to six target nonland permanents and creates six 2/2 green Cat Warrior creature tokens with forestwalk. Each land that returns triggers your landfall cards.

The 99 cards are 29 creatures, 2 artifacts, 3 enchantments, 8 instants, 14 sorceries and 43 lands. The creatures include landfall payoffs such as Avenger of Zendikar, Rampaging Baloths, Nesting Dragon and Baloth Woodcrasher, creatures that grow with your land count such as Crash of Rhino Beetles, Rubblehulk and Zendikar Incarnate, and ramp creatures such as Farhaven Elf, Sakura-Tribe Elder and Yavimaya Elder. The deck also has lieutenants, such as Loyal Guardian, Loyal Subordinate and Loyal Apprentice, that get better while you control your commander.

Key Cards

◈
Avenger of Zendikar
Landfall · Token Maker
A 5/5 for {5}{G}{G}. When it enters, you create a 0/1 green Plant creature token for each land you control, and whenever a land you control enters you may put a +1/+1 counter on each Plant. With so many lands, one Avenger makes a huge army.
◈
Nesting Dragon
Landfall · Flying
A 5/4 for {3}{R}{R}. It has flying, and whenever a land you control enters you create a 0/2 red Dragon Egg creature token with defender. When the Egg dies, it makes a 2/2 red Dragon with flying. It turns every land into another flyer.
◈
Crash of Rhino Beetles
Big Body · Trample
A 5/5 for {4}{G}. It has trample and gets +10/+10 as long as you control ten or more lands. With 43 lands in the deck, it is often a 15/15.
◈
Lavalanche
X Spell · Finisher
A sorcery for {X}{B}{R}{G}. It deals X damage to target player or planeswalker and each creature that player or that planeswalker's controller controls. It can finish an opponent and wipe their board at the same time.

Playing the Deck

The early game is about lands and mana. Sol Ring, Cultivate, Explosive Vegetation, Hunting Wilds, Farhaven Elf and Borderland Explorer fetch land, Scute Mob grows once you have five lands, and Khalni Heart Expedition cashes in your landfall. Lands such as Warped Landscape and Terramorphic Expanse fetch more lands.

The middle of the game is about getting value from lands. Lord Windgrace digs for lands and recurs them, Seer's Sundial and Retreat to Hagra reward each land, Rampaging Baloths and Nesting Dragon create creatures with every drop, and Turntimber Sower makes Plants when lands go to the graveyard. Gyrus, Waker of Corpses and Thantis, the Warweaver are big three-colour threats.

The late game is about huge creatures and a reset. Moldgraf Monstrosity, Charnelhoard Wurm and Emissary of Grudges are large threats, Savage Twister, Chain Reaction and Gaze of Granite clear creatures, and Decimate and Windgrace's Judgment remove important permanents. Worm Harvest makes a Worm for each land card in your graveyard.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths: The deck has a high number of lands and ramp, a lot of value from each land drop, and some very big creatures. It also has plenty of removal, including Putrefy, Ruinous Path, Acidic Slime, Consign to Dust, Decimate and Whiptongue Hydra.

Weaknesses: The deck is three colours and relies on drawing lands, so it can flood, and several payoffs, such as the lieutenants, work only while you control your commander. Lord Windgrace is a planeswalker, so it can be attacked and cannot protect itself.

Verdict
Nature's Vengeance is a powerful, straightforward landfall deck that leans on a great mana base and big payoffs. It is a good choice for players who like ramp, lands and Jund colours.
