Overview
Riveteers Rampage is a deck that treats big creatures as repeatable burst damage. Henzie "Toolbox" Torre gives each creature spell you cast with mana value 4 or greater blitz, with a blitz cost equal to its mana cost. A creature cast for its blitz cost gains haste and "When this creature dies, draw a card" and is sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step. Blitz costs also cost {1} less for each time you have cast Henzie from the command zone this game.
The 99 cards are 29 creatures, 7 artifacts, 9 enchantments, 4 instants, 11 sorceries and 39 lands. The creatures are mostly large or have value when they die, such as Thragtusk, Mitotic Slime, Caldaia Guardian, Woodfall Primus and Giant Adephage, and the rest of the deck has sacrifice outlets, ramp and card draw. Several creatures also have their own blitz costs, including Caldaia Guardian and Mezzio Mugger.
Key Cards
Playing the Deck
The early game is about ramp. Rampant Growth, Farseek, Explore, Kodama's Reach, Migration Path, Overgrown Battlement, Sol Ring, Arcane Signet and Fellwar Stone help you reach the large creatures, and Glittering Stockpile stores mana. Lifecrafter's Bestiary draws a card when you cast a creature spell if you pay {G}.
The middle of the game is about getting value from creature deaths. Caldaia Guardian makes two Citizens whenever it or another creature with mana value 4 or greater dies, Disciple of Bolas and Evolutionary Leap turn sacrificed creatures into cards, and Industrial Advancement sacrifices a creature to find a bigger one. Deathreap Ritual draws a card at end of turn if a creature died, and Life's Legacy draws cards equal to a sacrificed creature's power.
The late game is about huge creatures and sweeping the board. Treeshaker Chimera, Giant Adephage, Woodfall Primus and Artisan of Kozilek are enormous threats, Stalking Vengeance punishes players when your creatures die, and Deathbringer Regent can destroy all other creatures if five or more others are on the battlefield. Blasphemous Act and Riveteers Confluence clear small creatures, and Windgrace's Judgment destroys a nonland permanent for each opponent.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck has a lot of creatures that replace themselves, a wide range of ramp, and several sacrifice outlets, so it keeps cards flowing even when things go wrong. It also has good removal, including Terminate, Chaos Warp, Riveteers Charm, Windgrace's Judgment and Noxious Gearhulk.
Weaknesses: Blitz creatures die at the end of the turn, so without extra value the deck can run low on threats, and a sweeper or graveyard exile effect slows down its recursion. It has many expensive creatures and few cheap ways to protect them, and Aether Snap removes all counters and tokens, including your own.
