Overview
Stalwart Unity is a group hug deck that gives everyone resources while keeping a small edge. Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis is a 2/8, and at the beginning of your end step you draw a card, then each player may put a land card from their hand onto the battlefield, and each opponent who did not put a land onto the battlefield draws a card. You always draw, and each opponent chooses between a land and a card.
The 99 cards are 22 creatures, 9 artifacts, 8 enchantments, 9 instants, 11 sorceries and 40 lands. Symmetrical cards such as Howling Mine, Temple Bell, Rites of Flourishing, Collective Voyage and Minds Aglow give every player resources, and political cards such as Zedruu the Greathearted, Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer, Akroan Horse and Humble Defector hand out permanents and cards while you keep the benefits. Defensive cards such as Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Windborn Muse and Blazing Archon keep the table from attacking you.
Key Cards
Playing the Deck
The early game is about mana and cards. Sol Ring, Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Veteran Explorer and Collective Voyage ramp you, Howling Mine, Temple Bell and Rites of Flourishing give cards, and Edric, Spymaster of Trest, Selvala, Explorer Returned and Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis draw cards each turn. Hushwing Gryff and Selfless Squire help protect you.
The middle of the game is about politics and defence. Zedruu the Greathearted gives permanents away and draws cards, Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer stops a creature attacking or blocking and gives its controller a card, Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Sphere of Safety and Windborn Muse make attacking you expensive, and Reins of Power and Assault Suit create political chaos.
The late game is about a big finish. Blazing Archon protects you, Realm Seekers, Rubblehulk and Progenitor Mimic grow, Treacherous Terrain deals damage equal to opposing land counts, and Reverse the Sands redistributes life totals. Blasphemous Act and Wave of Reckoning reset the board.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The deck has a huge amount of card draw and ramp, and its defensive cards make it hard to attack. It also has plenty of interaction, including Swords to Plowshares, Beast Within, Oblation, Entrapment Maneuver, Swan Song and Arcane Denial.
Weaknesses: Giving opponents cards can come back to hurt you, and the deck has relatively few ways to win on its own, so it relies on politics and a long game. Four colours and a lot of gold cards make the mana awkward.
