Timey-Wimey Commander Precon Guide
It's a bit more complicated than that.
Timey-Wimey is the Bant precon from Doctor Who Commander, led by The Thirteenth Doctor. It exiles cards from the top of the library and rewards casting them from exile, generating value from cards played without drawing them and enabling powerful synergies with cards that care about casting spells from anywhere other than the hand.

Overview
Timey-Wimey is built around impulse draw and casting spells from exile. The Thirteenth Doctor exiles cards from the top of the library whenever she attacks, and you may cast those cards until the end of your next turn. This creates a form of repeatable impulse draw that generates card advantage from combat rather than from dedicated draw spells, and the deck includes multiple payoffs for casting spells specifically from exile rather than from the hand.
The deck layers exile-cast payoffs throughout the creature and spell suite, creating a game state where attacking with the Thirteenth Doctor is always profitable regardless of whether combat damage is dealt. Companions Yaz Khan and other Doctor Who-specific cards enhance the exile-cast rewards, and the Bant colour combination provides access to the best impulse draw effects (white and green) alongside blue counterspells to protect the engine.
Key Cards
Yaz Khan
Companion · Exile-Cast Payoff
A companion for the Thirteenth Doctor that can begin in the command zone. Whenever you cast a spell from exile, create a 1/1 white Human Soldier creature token. Yaz Khan converts every exile-cast trigger into a free token, turning the Thirteenth Doctor's attack trigger into both card advantage and board presence simultaneously. A single attack from the Thirteenth Doctor that exiles two castable cards generates two tokens from Yaz if both are cast. Over several turns, this builds a meaningful army of token creatures that can close the game through combat.
Alandra, Sky Dreamer
Draw Reward · Token Generator
Whenever you draw your second card each turn, create a 2/2 blue Drake token with flying. Alandra rewards the deck's natural impulse draw from the Thirteenth Doctor's attack trigger: the exiled cards that are drawn from exile count as draws for Alandra's trigger, meaning each attack generates not only the exiled cards but also a flying Drake token. As the deck draws multiple cards per turn through various impulse sources, Alandra produces a stream of evasive threats that pressure opponents from the air.
Passionate Archaeologist
Damage Engine · Exile-Cast Payoff
Whenever you cast a spell from exile, Passionate Archaeologist deals damage equal to that spell's mana value to target player or planeswalker. A Doctor Who-specific card that converts every exile-cast into direct damage: a five-mana spell cast from exile deals five damage immediately. In a deck that regularly casts three to five cards from exile per turn through the Thirteenth Doctor's attack triggers, Passionate Archaeologist turns the impulse draw engine into a damage clock that threatens to close the game without requiring combat to connect.
Fblthp, the Lost
Card Draw · Exile Synergy
When Fblthp enters from exile or is cast from exile, draw two cards. If it would be put into a library from anywhere, shuffle it in and draw a card instead. Fblthp draws two cards when cast from exile, perfectly aligning with the Thirteenth Doctor's attack trigger. Exiling Fblthp and casting it from exile generates an immediate two-card draw, and its shuffle-into-library clause ensures it reappears in the deck to be exiled and cast again by future attack triggers. This creates a sustainable, repeating draw engine that refills the hand each time Fblthp cycles through exile.
Playing the Deck
The Thirteenth Doctor needs to attack to generate value, so the early game is about protecting her while building a board that lets her attack safely or with trample/flying backup. Mana acceleration arrives through green ramp spells, and a few early creatures provide blocking deterrence for the Doctor. The deck should not be shy about attacking the Thirteenth Doctor into even parity boards — the exiled cards are additional cards even if the Doctor dies, and the Doctor's commander re-cast eventually fills the exile zone further.
The mid game is defined by the Passionate Archaeologist and Yaz Khan payoffs. Once either is in play, each attack from the Thirteenth Doctor generates tokens or direct damage in addition to the exiled cards. Fblthp, the Lost cycling through the exile zone provides consistent two-for-one draws that keep the hand full, and Alandra builds an air force from the draw triggers generated by impulse draw.
The late game resolves through a combination of accumulated Yaz tokens swinging in the air, Passionate Archaeologist burn from high-mana-value exile casts, and the raw card advantage of a hand that has been refilled multiple times through exile draws.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths: The Thirteenth Doctor generates card advantage from combat, making the deck resistant to dedicated card draw hate. The exile-cast payoffs stack: Yaz, Passionate Archaeologist, and Alandra all trigger from the same event, generating multi-dimensional value from each cast. The Bant colour combination provides excellent interaction and ramp.
Weaknesses: The deck requires the Thirteenth Doctor to attack to generate value, making it vulnerable to tap-down effects and pacifism-type auras. Exiled cards that cannot be cast within the turn window are lost, making high-mana-value cards exiled at the wrong moment a liability. The deck is slower to establish than more proactive strategies.
Verdict
Timey-Wimey is a creative and thematically resonant precon that brings a fresh take on the impulse draw strategy through the Thirteenth Doctor's combat-based exile engine. Passionate Archaeologist provides a genuinely powerful win condition within the set, and the combination of Yaz Khan tokens, Alandra Drakes, and Fblthp cycling creates a layered value engine that rewards pilots who manage their exile zone carefully. The deck is most enjoyable for players who like reading and tracking multiple simultaneous triggers and enjoy a Bant tempo strategy with a unique resource axis.
